Manolo Blahnik is a Spanish fashion designer and founder of his namesake high-end shoe brand. He never professionally learnt shoe making anywhere, but is consumed wholeheartedly by his craft. He not only draws the designs on paper but also hand-crafts the first pair of a particular design himself. When time comes for mass production he oversees the entire process making sure each pair is an exact copy of the first one. He can be safely credited for reviving the sleek stiletto heel in the 1970’s, which has since become a classic. This he did when mainstream shoe styling was still ruled by platforms. His distaste for wedges is also common knowledge, Blahnik believes in the power of heels and its sex appeal.
