Congrats! Agniv Mukherjee from Kolkata for winning iPad 2. As most of you know, Dr Maulik Patel from Bangalore for winning Bose Wave Music System, Pooja Deshmane from Pune won Philips Home Theatre, Gundeep Malhotra from Gurgaon won Sony PlayStation 3, Peeush Garg won Samsung Galaxy Note, Ankit Batra from New Delhi won iPhone on 6 December and Piyush Modi won the Sony Bravia LCD on 7 December. We received lots of queries about this and we compiled all of them. Here they are, answered one by one.
How do you select the winner?
Once the deal is closed, we extract all the entries which run in thousands. We use the RAND function of MySql to generate a random number and this number gives us the details of the winner.
The deal closed at 1 PM, and you have all the details with the winner’s photo by 4 PM? How do you do that?
We do it quick and fast! And here’s how we do it.
1) We select the winner by using the method described above. ( 10 minutes)
2) We call the winner, informing him of his selection and terms and conditions. We also inform him about the details we will require from him. ( 10 minutes)
3) We send him an email, confirming his selection and asking for details like Address, Photo, Facebook profile link etc. We also inform him to send us these details as soon as possible. One of the important things we require is the PAN Card number. This is to make it simple, we do not collect the 30% TDS amount also, from the winners, which is a standard practice. We bear it ourselves (1 hour)
4) We use these details, create our banners to make the announcement ( 30 minutes)
So in total, the whole process takes less than 2 hours. Simple!
Why does the winner not post on the winner’s announcement from his Facebook profile?
It depends on person to person. Even though we have the facebook profile of the winner, we do not give it out openly. Some people like to have a public life, some don’t. We can only request the winner to come and participate in the discussion but not force him.
I am still not convinced. What else can you do to make me believe?
You are free to come to our office and we would love to show you how we go about the whole process to declare the winner.
How do you feel when people call it Fake, some Snapdeal connection with the winner and other unfounded allegations.
We feel bad. This is a transparent and honest process by us to reward and create excitement amongst our customers. We agree that people are excited but there can be only one winner. Not winning leads to disappointment but it should not lead to irresponsible allegations. We are doing honest work and we are proud to do so.
Thanks everyone!
