Shark Tank India Season 4, Episode 17: Agri-Innovation, Eco-Friendly Paints, and Pickleball Perfection

Episode 17 of Shark Tank India season 4 was nothing short of a treat for both business enthusiasts and casual viewers. The Sharks were back with their sharp insights, witty remarks, and a few playful jabs. This episode brought forth three incredibly diverse pitches that spanned the world of agriculture, eco-friendly innovation, and the growing popularity of new sports. Whether it was revolutionizing farming tools, introducing eco-conscious paints, or tackling the rise of pickleball, this episode had it all.

The Sharks featured in this episode were: Kunal Bahl, Co-Founder of Snapdeal and Titan Capital, known for his strategic insights and entrepreneurial journey; Anupam Mittal, the founder of Shaadi.com, bringing his vast experience in the tech and matchmaking space; Namita Thapar, Executive Director of Emcure Pharmaceuticals, a powerhouse of business acumen and a champion of healthcare innovation; Ritesh Agarwal, CEO of OYO Rooms, with a keen eye for scaling businesses and disrupting industries; and Aman Gupta, Co-Founder & CMO of boAt, whose marketing brilliance and sharp instincts make him a formidable investor. With such a strong lineup, the entrepreneurs had their work cut out for them as they pitched their ideas to this powerhouse of talent.

Pitch 1: RBD Machine Tools – Revolutionizing Indian Agriculture

First to pitch was RBD Machine Tools Pvt. Ltd., a company committed to transforming agriculture in India. Founded by an ambitious yet humble team, RBD manufactures a wide range of agricultural machinery and plant protection devices, from light to heavy-duty equipment. Their products are known for their reliability, efficiency, and durability, making them an essential part of the agricultural ecosystem, even in the remotest parts of India. With 100% of their sales made through call centers, they’ve found an innovative way to reach farmers across the country.

Namita was quick to praise the team for their grounded nature, jokingly stating, “BDE MBAs ki chutti kar di!” Kunal, impressed by their humble yet ambitious approach, also commented, “Aap bohot humble aur grounded hain aur ambitious bhi,” highlighting their potential to scale. The Sharks were definitely intrigued by RBD’s vision to make farming more efficient and accessible for every farmer in India. But did they get their steal deal?

Pitch 2: Midas Paint – Eco-Friendly and Antibacterial Paint

Next came Midas Paint, a revolutionary new product made from cow dung that promises to be both eco-friendly and antibacterial. Unlike other paints that may have a strong smell, Midas Paint is odorless and offers more sustainable and natural alternatives for home and commercial spaces. Founded by Mayur Kakasaheb, Mayur Prithviraj, Sachin Vasant, and Akshay Pradip, the company offers over 15,000 shades of this unique paint. Their product stands out not only for its eco-friendliness but also for its ability to promote a cleaner, healthier environment.

With a request of Rs.3 crores for 5% equity, the founders impressed the Sharks with their simplicity and commitment to sustainability. The Sharks praised their efforts in providing a solution that benefits both the environment and consumers, recognizing the growing market for eco-conscious products.

Pitch 3: Goodland – Pickleball for All

Last but certainly not least was Goodland, a company dedicated to making pickleball—a sport that’s growing rapidly in popularity—more accessible to everyone. Founders Hemant Chavan and Yogesh Chava recognized that while pickleball is easy to play, the equipment and court availability often make it difficult for people to get started. Goodland aims to solve that problem by providing affordable equipment and building courts that make the sport more accessible and enjoyable for all.
